Trump has realized Russia cannot be defeated militarily and decided to hand over the "Ukraine Project" to the Europeans while keeping his options open about what to do in the coming years of his second term as POTUS, with the "minerals deal". Also Trump has just signed new executive orders with further sanctions against Russia. And the 42,000 Starlink terminals "gifted" to Kiev by the Pentagon are still fully functional and still providing the Pentagon and CIA with a direct line with the entire Ukrainian army and the tens of thousands of US-supplied drones used to kill Russian soldiers every single day.
What the new US administration has clearly stated that they want is to freeze the conflict along the current frontlines (expressed by President Trump himself as "I want to stop the killing"), without officially recognizing any of Russia's hard-won territorial gains. If Trump gets what he wants, the US will still be in control of Kiev while Europe will pay for the rearmament of the Ukrainian military, and also train and equip a new 1-million men Ukrainian army that will engage Russia again 5 or 10 years from now.
Now the Kremlin is fully aware of all this and so the Russian forces will continue their work until all the objectives of the SMO are reached.
